Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

The ABVP Karyakarta Portal (karyakarta.abvp.org) and its companion mobile application are operated by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad ("ABVP", "we", "us") to register and manage its karyakartas (members and volunteers). This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and the choices you have. For questions, contact support@abvp.org or use our support form.

2. Information we collect

  • Account information: your name, email address, and mobile/WhatsApp number, collected when you register with a phone number (OTP) or through a social sign-in.
  • Social sign-in data: if you sign in with Google, Facebook, or Apple, we receive your name, email address, profile photo, and a provider identifier from that service. We never receive or store your social account password.
  • Karyakarta profile: details you provide for membership — date of birth, gender, parents' names, current and permanent address, education, occupation or institution details, skills and interests, blood group, emergency contact, and an optional photograph.
  • Technical data: standard server logs (IP address, browser type, timestamps) used for security and troubleshooting.

3. How we use your information

  • To create and manage your karyakarta membership, including generating your membership ID and membership badge.
  • To verify your identity at sign-in (OTP delivery on WhatsApp/SMS, or social sign-in verification).
  • To send you membership communications — for example your welcome message and membership badge on WhatsApp.
  • To administer the organisation: authorised office-bearers can view member records relevant to their state, district, taluk, or university responsibility.
  • To respond to support and feedback requests you submit.

4. Sharing

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising. Data is shared only with:

  • Service providers that deliver messages on our behalf (e.g., WhatsApp Business messaging providers for OTPs and badges) and host our infrastructure. They process data only on our instructions.
  • Authorised ABVP office-bearers, on a need-to-know basis tied to their organisational role and geography.
  • Authorities, where disclosure is required by law.

5. Security and retention

Data is transmitted over HTTPS, stored on access-controlled servers, and protected by role-based authorisation inside the portal. We retain your information for as long as you remain a registered karyakarta. When your account is deleted, your data is removed as described on our Data Deletion page.

6. Your choices and rights

  • You can view and correct your profile at any time after signing in.
  • You can request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • You can request deletion of your account and data — see Data Deletion.
  • You can disconnect a social sign-in by removing the app's access in your Google, Facebook, or Apple account settings; your portal account remains usable through your other sign-in methods.

7. Children

The portal is intended for students and members aged 13 and above. If you believe a child's data has been registered in error, contact us and we will remove it.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date above reflects the latest revision; material changes will be announced on the portal.
